Veronica was born on the family farm near Wakaw to a hardworking, fun loving, Christian family. She attended Lone Pine School, being an enthusiastic reader and student, completing her Grade 8 exams at age 12. At age 18, she entered the nursing convent at Tisdale, SK. Terribly homesick, but determined, she did not leave the nursing school until she was hired by Dr. Fahlman of Kinistino in July of 1943.
Bahme, Veronique, Ronnie, Froanie….was a hardworking, competent nurse, entrusted with many hospital and medical office duties, at one time working both days at Dr. Fahlman’s medical office, and the night shift at the hospital in order to keep the hospital running until new nurses could be hired.
Veronica married Frank Boyle in November 1948. Although they had planned on building their home on Frank’s School section, they moved to the Boyle farm to help with Mrs. Boyle’s declining health. There they stayed and made this house their home, hosting family and hired men, neighbourhood gatherings, church officials and functions, while farming, raising 7 children, a large garden and any type of farm animal. In 1990, Frank and Veronica moved to their first new house, on main street in Kinistino. They enjoyed the social events, driving others to appointments, serving Meals on Wheels, supporting the Catholic community, and watching grandchildren grow.
Frank passed away on Sept 3, 2011. Veronica continued her busy life, and maintained her house and yard until entering the Jubilee Lodge in June 2015. She had been an avid supporter of the Lodge throughout the years, and always thought she wanted to spend her final days there. She passed away a few short weeks later.
Veronica’s family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Ige, Nurse Practitioner, Delvena Doucette, the wonderful staff at the Jubilee Lodge, neighbours, friends and relatives for their support. Neighbours threats to tell her children what she was doing was the only way to get her to drop her snow shovel, get off the ladder, or out of the rose bushes.
Appreciation is also extended to the Melfort Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Aug. 17 at 2 pm in the Kinistino United Church. Celebrants Fathers Jim Kaptein, Nick Ferreras and George Canto.
Memorial tributes may be made in memory of Veronica Boyle to the KInistino Jubilee Lodge Auxiliary, or the Kinistino Cemetery Fund.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Melfort Funeral Home.
