Bergie was born and raised in Prince Albert, but was a summer resident of Waskesiu for almost 50 years. Upon retirement from the Pulp Mill in 1995 Bergie lived as much as he could at Waskesiu where he pursued his passion for golf and life. He became, as some people would say, a Waskesiu icon. In his last days he appreciated all the support he received from friends and family. In his memory the family requests that everyone wear their favourite golf attire to his Celebration of Life. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or Global Neighbors Canada Inc., RR5, Site 21, Box 30, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5R3. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
