Stanley Edward Parker passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the age of 90 years. He was born on the family farm in Naicam, SK on January 28, 1925, the youngest of Wilson and Mollie Parker’s two children. Stan was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and joined the RCAF in 1943 and served with honour until the end of the Second World War. Upon his return from service, Stan went to work for the City of Prince Albert for the next 38 years starting in the tax department until his retirement as Director of Personnel in 1985. Stan married the love of his life, Joan, in 1951 at Wesley United Church, where they have been members ever since. Together, Stan and Joan raised their two sons Robert and Doug and helped with the grandchildren as they came along. Stan made the most of his retirement years, taking trips with Joan and their friends in the winters to California, Texas, and British Columbia so that he could play golf year round. Stan was happiest on the golf course, at the cabin at Christopher Lake, but most of all, being at home with his family. Stan was a very generous person who gave many people a helping hand. He was the most honest and fair person you could ever meet. We will remember Stan’s great sense of humor and we will cherish all the happy memories and laughs we shared with him. He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 64 years; his son Robert (Lori) and granddaughters Dalisha, Chelsea, Sierra, Desiree (Greg, Isabella and Savannah) and his son Douglas (Marie) and granddaughters Lauren and Hayley. He will be missed by his brothers-in-law Reg (Donna) Newman, Horace (Dorothy) Newman, Bruce Newman; his sister-in-law Glory Muill and his many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by Darren, Dixie and Dulcie Saam. He was predeceased by his parents Wilson and Mollie Parker; his sister Blanche (Joe) Murphy; his mother and father-in-law Gilbert and Gloire Newman; his brother-in-law Charlie (June) and sisters-in-law Ada, Cecily and Helen. Our family would like to thank the doctors of the Co-operative Health Centre and especially the Level 5 nursing staff of the Victoria Hospital for their compassion and the wonderful care they took of our Dad. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation or the Wesley United Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
