Mike Godin

Michael “Mike” Joseph Godin passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Prince Albert on May 1, 1947. He attended St. Paul’s School. Mike’s first job was delivering milk with his dad for Purity Dairy where he was later employed. He moved to BC where he worked in a sawmill. Upon returning to Prince Albert he was employed at the Cosmo Lodge, Red River Roping and Riding Club and at Marks 9. Mike then owned his pressure washer and chimney sweep business. During his retirement years he raised American Huskie dogs and exotic pigeons. Mike’s joys in life were spending time at the family cottage at Murray Point where he enjoyed water skiing, swimming and dances at MacIntosh Point. He also enjoyed horseback riding, skiing and shooting the breeze over coffee with family and friends. Mike is survived by his loving wife and caregiver Edith Maas of 17 years; his children Cindy, Lisa, Kim, Amanda, step-son Michael and grandchildren; his sisters Yvonne (Don) Irwin, Sharon (Alex) Dumont, Pat (Brian) Jacobson and Reneé (Steve) Campbell; Edith’s daughters Dora, Cecilia, Bonita and grandchildren; his brothers and sisters-in-law Carolyn, Pauline (Eric), Melody (Rick), Darryl, Patrick, Dean & Grace, Nick & Bea and John & Noella; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and aunts. He was predeceased by his parents Leon and Betty Godin; granddaughters Mariah and Ashton; grandparents Michael and Mary McMurchie, Romauld and Rosa Godin; father and mother-in-law Nick and Dora Markowsky. A Reception will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK followed by a Graveside Service at Henribourg Cemetery with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to organ donation. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
