Daniel William Kraus – The lord welcomed our husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend into his loving arms on October 3, 2015. He was born in Calgary, AB on September 29, 1945. Growing up he lived with his grandmother Pauline who he adored and later living with the Gruber & Kraus families. At age 19, he met the love of his life, Shirley Volk. They were married on September 3, 1966. Dan and Shirley built their life together for the last 49 years in Prince Albert. Family, faith, and fun were the forefront of his life. For him there was no greater joy than family and friend gatherings. He was happiest at Christmas time, birthday parties, the lake, in his boat, and participating in his children’s, grandchildren’s, great grandchild’s, and friend’s activities. His connections with his brothers, their families, and Shirley’s family was something dear to his heart. The time spent with extended family and special friends he truly valued. Dan lived his life loving, supporting and giving to others. His continued devotion and trust in the Lord was something he practiced each day. Golfing, fishing, boating, hockey, baseball, the breakfast club, coffee time, and playing practical jokes were all part of his world. Many years of his life were spent as a devoted employee of Weyerhauser as a Woodroom operator. Here he made life-long friendships. In addition, time was allotted for farming, grass cutting, snow removal, and custom combining. Hard work and taking pride in your work was always very important to him. Dan is fondly remembered by his wife Shirley Kraus (wife); daughter Rachelle Kraus (Dale Rohovich), Courtney & Jayden Kraus (granddaughter & great grandson), Kyleigh & Keegan (Dale’s children); daughter Melanie (Darren) Deck, Chelsey and Kaylee Deck (granddaughters); brothers Dennis (Carol) Eckert, Don Eckert, David (Judy) Eckert; brothers- in -law and sisters- in- law, Vivian (Jerome) Weiland, and Mervin (Catherine) Volk; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends. Dan was predeceased by grandmother Pauline Kraus, mother Anne Eckert, step father Alfred Eckert, mother- in- law Annie Volk and father- in- law Philip Volk. Prayers will be at 7:30 pm on Thursday October 8, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Friday October 9, 2015 with Father Matthew Nguyen officiating.
