Cyril Howland

Cyril Howland, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 6, 2015, at the age of 88. Cyril is survived by his loving family, his wife of 65 years, Agnes, his four sons, Wayne (Annette) of Berwick, Nova Scotia, Dale (Sharon) of Lloydminster, Bill (Lorie) of Calgary, Don (Cathy) of Prince Albert, his grandchildren, Allison, Andrea (Allan) Murray, Jennifer, Lesley, Haley (Teigan) Lawton, Alyssa, Kyle, Bryn (Heather), Ashley, his two great-grandchildren, Kadence Lawton and Maren Murray, his sister, Rose Williams, his sister-in-law, Diane Howland, numerous nieces and nephews, and his wife’s family. He was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Charles, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Catherine and Dominic Yungwirth, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Obry, Douglas (Francis), Fred “Ted”, Ralph, Ronald “Rusty”, Jerald, Arnold “Mac” (Dorothy), his brothers-in-law, Dennis Williams and Arnold Yungwirth. Cyril was born near Big River, SK, and his family moved to Prince Albert early in his childhood. Cyril began his working career at an early age of 14 at Six Bakery and then at a Sash and Door company in Prince Albert. At the age of 18, Cyril began working at 4X Bakery of Prince Albert, which became Toastmaster Bakery, which became McGavins Toastmaster Bakery, which became McGavins Bakery. Cyril spent 37 years working at this bakery until they closed their product line here in Prince Albert. Cyril then went on to work for Central Security of Prince Albert for 11 years. Cyril was very active in the Boy Scout organization; he spent 35 years with the Boy Scouts. Cyril loved his backyard and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time at their cabin at Round Lake, SK. Cyril also enjoyed spending time with and helping out his sons and their families. He loved all animals and children, his eyes would light up when the grandchildren would come to visit. Cyril and Agnes loved to travel and they spent many a trip on chartered bus tours throughout North America and ocean cruises in the Caribbean. A special thank you goes out to the staff at the Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert who took wonderful care of Cyril the last few years. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10 at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be directed to the Prince Albert SPCA. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Carla Jesso, Funeral Director.
