It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Isaac Bear at the age of 94 years. Gordon was born on Tuesday, September 27, 1921 on the Little Red River Reserve, the fifth child of William Bear of the Red Pheasant area and Norah (nee Roberts) Bear of La Ronge. Gordon grew up in a large and loving family with a strong work ethic. Until the day he passed, his family was the most important thing in the world to him. Gordon farmed for many years, both grain and cattle. He maintained the roads for the Montreal Lake band until he was almost 90 years old, even after he received a pace-maker and his doctor forbade him. When the boys hid his keys, he would find them and go anyway. He and Doris loved to dance and socialize and spent many winters in Arizona. They often camped and fished and, in later years, Gordon often went camping and fishing with Sherrie and Terry, or packed up his camper and went visiting family and friends in Manitoba. He is survived by his sons, Gordon (Gwen) and Gary (Betty Ann), his daughter-in-law, Selma, his grandchildren Darwin (Karla), Sherrie, Grant, Keith (Christy), and his six great-grandsons, Zayden, Kyle, Tyson, Corey, Kane and Corbin, his sister, Bette Spence, his sister-in-law, Charlotte (Fred) Hudson, numerous nieces and nephews, and his second family, Belinda, Brian, Brenda, Bev, Bonnie and Brad Bear. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Doris (nee Spence), his parents, William and Norah Bear, an infant daughter, his grandson, Billy, his granddaughter, Lisa, his grandson-in-law, Terry, six sisters, five brothers, and a special niece, Barb. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at River Park Memorial Chapel, Bishop Adam Halkett officiating. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Little Red River Reserve Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel, Colette Kadziolka, Funeral Director.
