The family of Gladys Evelyn (Hill) Laird is deeply saddened to announce her sudden but peaceful passing. Gladys is survived by her husband, Archie; her son Douglas (Veronica) Hill; her granddaughters Tracy Hill, Alison (Gerald) Korecki and Kristal Hill; her great grandsons Joshua Korecki, Keilan and Kolton Hendricks; her sister Grace Allen of Watrous; her nephews Earl (Doreen) Slawson and Bob (Doris) Slawson and nieces Joan (Ole) Thoresen and Shirley (Gordon) Simpson; as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Eleanor and Arthur Hill; her brothers Bill and Frank Hill and her sister Ella Slawson. Gladys Evelyn was born at home in Renown, SK., the youngest of 5 children. She grew up on the farm and attended Hawkshaw School, then attended Queen Mary School once she moved to Prince Albert. Gladys worked all through her adult life, starting at Scott National as an order clerk. Later she joined Archie at Browne’s Motor Body Shop as their secretary until retirement in December of 1989. Archie and Gladys met during the 1950’s, through friends. They built a home together on an acreage in 1962 and married May 24, 1971. They enjoyed many years together travelling, gardening, and caring for their acreage and cabin in Mayview, SK. She was a doting grandmother to her granddaughters. Gladys spent her final years at Pineview Terrace Lodge. A heartfelt thank you to Pineview Terrace Lodge staff for the loving care that they provided for her. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Pineview Terrace Lodge Recreation Fund.
