Normand (Norm) Omer Auger, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away quietly in his sleep at home on December 3, 2015 after a long battle with COPD at the age of 82 years. Norm is predeceased by his father Omer, and mother Jeanne (nee Normand). He is survived by his two sisters Huguette (Killeen) and Marielle (Benson). Beloved husband of Georgette (Brousseau) and remembered with love by his daughter Danielle (Jacques Renaud) and son Ronald (Sylvie Lesage), his grandchildren: Mireille (Kyle Chester) and their children: Anthony, Emery and Ashtynn; Marc (Stephanie Thibault), Dominique (Stewart Toth), Martine (Ryan Knudsen), Melissa (Vincent Beaudoin) and her mom Joanne Loux-Auger. As a young man, Norman enjoyed playing hockey at the local rink and playing drums in a marching band. Gifted with a beautiful voice, he never got tired of singing songs from his favourite artist; Al Jolson. Normand married his childhood sweetheart, Georgette, on the first of August, 1955. Norm and Georgette enjoyed Sunday drives with their two children, Danielle and Ronald. Their treks often saw them stopping for picnics at their favourite park or visiting at a family’s cottage. Norm enjoyed sharing stories from his time as a security investigator at the University of Ottawa when he retired. His grandchildren enjoyed hearing stories about the old times in Ottawa, a time when electric cars rode the streets and life in general back then. A joker by nature, he had a gift for playing with words. A devoted Knight of Columbus (4th degree) he spent a lot of time doing charitable work until his first bout with sickness in 2002. Pops will be remembered in his latter days, sitting in his favourite chair watching his Habs and old time movies eating a bag of host cuttings and a glass of milk (now a substitute for his lifelong favourite glass of Scotch and water). Norm had long wished he could spend his last days in Saskatchewan: granted – “Pops, may you rest in peace”. Family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and services from Home Care whose invaluable support and care was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in “Memory of Normand Auger” to the “Palliative Care Unit” at the following address: Prince Albert Home Care, Attention: Karen Harrison, Unit D 4050 – 2nd Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK S6W 1A2.
