It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, papa, uncle and friend, Ronald Patrick Murphy on Wednesday December 9, 2015 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. Ron was born on September 20, 1936 in Waterford Ireland. He moved to Canada when he was just 9 years old. His mother was a war bride and came to Canada with his sister Francis, and himself on board the Queen Mary ship. He relocated with his mother and sister to Tweedsmuir which is about a half hour north from Prince Albert. It was there that his other sister Barbara was born. Ron had various jobs in his life from owning his own business to slinging beer to joining the army. He finally found his calling when he started to work for the Commissionaires and spent 22 1/2 years working as a guard at the RCMP barracks which he enjoyed and took pride in. Ron married in 1968 and has one daughter, Sonia. He loved life, was very outgoing and had a laugh or word with people he met even if it was a stranger. Ron also dearly loved his grandchildren Hanna and Nicolas Deschenes. He also played Santa Clause for many years at the mall and for private parties. He even owned his own Santa suit! Until his untimely death he lived at Carment Court and enjoyed his independence. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. Ron is survived by his daughter Sonia Murphy-Deschenes (Sylvain) and their children Hanna and Nicolas; sister Francis Daughton; as well as various nieces, nephews and family members. He was predeceased by his mother Kate Pete; his ex-wife Florence Murphy; stepson Glen Buckley and other family members.
