October 11, 1930 – January 8, 2016
Robert “Bob” Alex Rodwin was born on Saturday, October 11, 1930, in Lac Vert, Saskatchewan, and passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Stella, his son, Joseph (Cathy) Rodwin, his grandson, Keegan Rodwin, his daughter, Pamela Nicholls Nelson, his granddaughters, Desiree Nelson and Dallas Nelson (Brian) Gould. Bob is also survived by his sisters, Anne Troobitscoff of Abbotsford BC, Mary Kulyk of Blaine Lake, SK, Helen Bazarkiewicz of Prince Albert, SK, and Jean Zadorozny of Laird, SK; his brother, William “Bill” (Leona) Rodwin of Blaine Lake, SK., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his mother, Polly, his father, Peter, his brothers-in-law, John Troobitscoff, Mike Kulyk, Paul Bazarkiewicz, and Nick Zadorozny, and nephew, Albert Bazarkiewicz.
As a businessman, Bob owned and operated the local grocery store in Blaine Lake and then the Weirdale Motor Hotel. Later, he worked as a road construction foreman for Woodland Enterprises. When that work was discontinued, Bob’s attraction to the North was brought forward as he became an outfitter, and, with Stella, acquired Nagle Lake, and later Larocque Lake Lodge, which they enjoyed until his passing.
Bob enjoyed new adventures and was always up for a challenge. He had many talents: hunting and fishing, cooking and gardening. Reading, watching sports, playing cards and time with family and friends were also important to him. Bob kept everyone entertained with his infamous sense of humour and engaging stories. He loved music – especially Bluegrass – and had a great talent for singing and playing his guitar. Bob could also be found on his tractor, out in nature, with his animals or flying to his fishing camps. He enjoyed his final trip to the lake in October of 2015.
The family would like to thank Dr. DuVal, Dr. Elmer, and all who cared for him at St. Paul’s Hospital, the Victoria Union Hospital and Pineland Home Care. They also express gratitude to Floyd and Gerry LaVallee with Senior’s Transportation.
