Ruth Marie Fiddler (nee Vandale), age 66 years, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Feb. 26, 2016 at the Victoria Hospital. She was born on Sept. 20, 1949 in Prince Albert to Norman and Alvena Vandale. Ruth was married to Julien Fiddler on November 11, 1966, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Ruth was a loving and devoted mother to two sons, Cary and Ken (Diane). Ruth was also a loving and devoted grandmother to her only grandchild Chelsea. Ruth is also survived by her brothers Edward (Christine) Vandale, Roger (Lana) Vandale, Phillip (Nancy) Vandale and her sisters Joyce Rosati, Faye Vandale; as well as numerous in laws, nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Norman and Alvena Vandale; her brothers Gordon and Lawrence; her sister Eunice and her twin brother and sister in infancy Vernon and Yvonne; as well as in laws, nieces and nephews. Ruth always put family first. She was also very involved in helping others. During her working years she was very involved in union activities and any way possible to help her co-workers. Also, she was very involved in politics as this gave her a venue to try to make things better for people. She also spent 15 years on the Social Service Appeals Board which allowed her to help others. Due to her numerous health issues Ruth was forced to retire early and spend a lot more time at home. Although she was not as able as she once was, she continued to strive to help others in any way she could. Ruth’s health issues caused her to be in and out of the hospital for the last 10 years, but this did not stop her from making time for her friends or anyone who needed her. During this time, when Ruth was more home bound, she loved to have company, whether it was playing cards, or simply having a cup of coffee shooting the breeze. Ultimately being home bound gave Ruth the chance to do what gave her the most happiness in life which was to spend time with her family and loved ones. And we better not forget to mention the boss of the house, her cat Linx. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Sister Renée Buliard officiating.
