FLETCHER, Leona passed away peacefully in Edmonton, AB on February 18, 2016 at the age of 76.  Born December 2, 1939 in Spiritwood, SK, Leona was the oldest of six children born to Ralph and Angeline Lajeunesse of Debden, SK.

Leona will be forever remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends.  She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dale and infant son, Shane, along with, her parents Ralph and Angeline (nee Fournier) Lajeunesse, two sisters – Madge Adams and Ferne Meyers and one brother Doria Lajeunesse.  Leona is survived by her son Marshall (Anna-belle) from Edmonton, AB and three grand-children Michael (Tammy) Weir, Amber (Rob) Parks, and Alicia Fletcher; along with great-grandchildren, Adam, Brooke and Lily Weir, and Travis Parks.  Leona also leaves behind two sisters Edna Skalicky of Prince Albert and Loraine Dore of Debden, sister-in-law Sherry Lajeunesse of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brother-in-law Ian (Verna) Adams of Stony Plain, AB and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leona’s life revolved around the nurturing love and compassion she had towards people – always an advocate for those less fortunate with her door and her heart always open.  She made impactful friendships with her neighbors in Uranium City, Nesbit Heights, Albertville and at Hillier Apartments in Prince Albert.  But it didn’t stop there, Leona also developed meaningful friendships with co-workers at PA Home Bakery, Elizabeth’s Floral, and the night cleaning staff at Woodland Campus.  She touched a lot of lives with her kindness, generosity, sincerity, wit and charm.  Her no nonsense approach to life was admired and respected by many; truly a remarkable lady who will be greatly missed.  Leona’s Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Feb 26th at 2:00pm in Edmonton at the Southside Memorial Chapel 8310 104th Street.  Interment to take place at a later date in Prince Albert, SK.
