Richard Duval

Richard passed away surrounded by his family on March 4, 2016 at Battlfords Union Hospital, North Battleford, SK. Richard was born October 15, 1949 in Balcarres, SK to John and Theresa Duval. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and joined the Navy for 14 years and worked as a laborer. Richard never sat still and kept himself busy fishing, woodworking, fixing small appliances and bike riding. Nature always drew him out and he loved the plentiful of picking berries for pies and jams. When his health made him slow down a little he challenged himself with puzzles and listening to Country Music with his favorite being Elvis Presley. Richard always had a good story to tell, and would always brighten someone’s day and make them laugh with a good visit with anyone and never judging no matter what was discussed or had taken place. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and followed his religion with great honor. Richard will be forever remembered and dearly missed by his father, John Duval; sister, Julie Remy and her husband and best friend Eldon Remy; his brother, Dennis (Mary Koppelaar) Duval; special aunt, Geraldine Holhauser; special niece, Linda Ford (VanWyck) and husband Bill Ford; special nephews, Vernon Remy and Michael Remy; other nephews and nieces, Murray Duval, Jon Duval and Trish Duval; cousins, Pat Rusk, Ryan Paquet, Robin Paquet, Danielle Peters, Louise Strand (Duval) Kelly, Charlotte Struder (Duval) Peter and Colleen Duval; as well as other numerous relatives and friends. Richard was predeceased by his mother, Theresa Duval (Holhauser) in 2003 and infant brother, Gerald Duval. At Richard’s request, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 1V9.
