It is with the utmost sadness that the family of Gil Streeton announces his sudden passing on March 25, 2016, a loved husband, father and brother. Born to Eric and Gladys Streeton on January 2, 1941 in Lloydminster, SK, at a young age, Gil moved to the family farm at Meskanaw, SK and quickly became the oldest of 5 siblings. Always close to his mother, he grew up enjoying baseball and spending time with his family. Upon graduation from high school, Gil attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a bachelor of Psychology in 1961, a diploma in Education in 1963 and a post graduate diploma in Education Psychology in 1968, all with first class honours. On May 8, 1965, he married Mary Agnes Kilgour and they moved to Prince Albert to begin their educational careers together. First as a chemistry teacher at Tech, then as a school psychologist and eventually a superintendant of schools, Gil’s career was dedicated to education. Gil was always known for his calming presence, and he took the most pleasure in helping fellow educators, students and the community. Retiring in 1993, Gil dedicated his new life to his wife and growing gladiolas on the family acreage which were distributed to people in need through Wesley United Church. Gilbert will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Agnes; daughter Avaleen; son Aaron (Sandy); along with his siblings Grant (Ruth) and Sherry (Roger); as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eric and Gladys and his brothers Bryan and Dwight. Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. A family interment of his ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Wesley United Church Memorial Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
