Algin “Chucky” Fred Sasakamoose
1956 – 2016
With heartfelt sadness the family of Algin “Chucky” Sasakamoose, late of Ahtahkakoop First Nation, announce his sudden passing on March 29, 2016 at the age of 59 years. The Wake service for Algin commenced on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ahtahkakoop First Nation Band Hall. The Funeral Service for Algin took place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Band Hall with interment in the St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery. Bishop Adam Halkett and Alex Sasakamoose officiated the services. The active pallbearers were Norvel Sasakamoose, Dean Sasakamoose, Garth Jr. Sasakamoose, Dean Starblanket, Elvis Pouyak, and Richard Masuskapoe.
Chucky is lovingly survived by his wife, Verna Sasakamoose of Sandy Lake FN; their children, Brant, Landon, Riley, and Sterling Sasakamoose; his son, Dale Johnston; his daughter, Melody Joseph; as well as numerous grandchildren; his parents Fred & Loretta Sasakamoose; his siblings Lester Ledoux of Mistawasis FN, Derek (Jolee) of Regina, SK, Neil (Kim Michaels) of Saskatoon, SK, Kevin of Sandy Lake FN, Garth of Sandy Lake FN, Ryan (Amanda) of Sandy Lake FN, Debbie of Sandy Lake FN, Kerry of Sandy Lake FN; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his son, Jerry Benjamin, his sister, Phyllis Sasakamoose; his sister-in-law, Betty Sasakamoose; his niece, Tanya Sasakamoose; his paternal grandparents, Rodderick and Sugil Sasakamoose; and his maternal grandparents, Miles and Eva Isbister.
