LETENDRE (MANDERSCHEID) – . Agnes Carrie Letendre (Manderscheid) late of Newmarket Place in Tisdale, SK, passed from this world at the age of 91 years. Born in Birch Hills, SK on November 16, 1924, she is survived by: her loving family; Gloria Sandberg of BC; Janet Wright of Candle Lake, SK; Joe (Wendy) Letendre of Calgary, AB; Dianne Berg of AB; Denise Letendre (Ray) of Lloydminster, AB; Delphine (Dale) Rindero of Bonnyville, AB; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister Crystal Sandberg of Regina, SK; and brother Ben Holland of Prince Albert, SK. She was
predeceased by her parents, Carl and Mary Holland, sisters Betsy Holland and Myrtle Tilsley, brothers Jack and Henry Holland, daughters Jean and Grace Letendre and Joyce Kuhling. Agnes had a true sense of self, an undying dedication to raise her children under any circumstances life threw at her, and many strong and unchanging opinions she held regardless of any differing ideals. If you truly wanted to know exactly what Agnes thought, she was always quite happy to tell you in no uncertain terms. She was fearless. She was a tireless worker, and enjoyed the time spent living on the farm at Naisberry raising both her large family and 400 plus chickens every spring. Mom worked at a fly-in fishing camp up North at Jan Lake, enjoying the great outdoors and the beauty of the nature that surrounded her. Mom also worked at the Coach and Three in Melfort for several years before retiring, making many lifelong friends and having many, many laughs as she went. She was a member of the Melfort Legion, and enjoyed marching in parades with the Color Party. She enjoyed playing bingo, picking Saskatoon and low-brush cranberries with her brother Jack, visiting with her many grandchildren, dancing, and having the odd beer and a good laugh or two. Mom was a tuberculosis survivor, overcoming the great challenges and heartbreaking separation from her three children that a year’s stay at the Prince Albert Sanatorium presented her with. She was tough as nails when she needed to be. Mom’s final homes were at the Carment Court Towers in P.A., the Diefenbaker Place and Caskey Homes in Melfort, and finally in Newmarket Place in Tisdale, again making many friends and having a good few laughs as she went. We were blessed to be able to have some of us with Mom in her room at Newmarket, surrounding her with love and comfort as her life gently came to an end. We would like very much to thank many of the caregivers and doctors at Newmarket for the dignified and compassionate assistance they gave both Mom and us as a family in the last weeks of her life. Mom adored the Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.
We’ll miss you, Mom, but we know that you are being rewarded in the next life for your hard work in this one. You are so loved. Rest peacefully, and we’ll meet again. In lieu of flowers, donations to Telemiracle (a yearly event that Mom dearly loved to spend as much of a sleepless weekend watching as she could) in Mom’s name would be appreciated by the family and would sure make Mom smile.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 9, 2016 from the Chapel of Melfort Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Captain Jennifer Robins officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Melfort Funeral Home Ltd. www.melfortfuneralhome.com
