Tom “Tom” Hugh Ross, an instructor in the Electrician Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and resident of Prince Albert, SK died unexpectedly on May 8, 2016 at the age of 58. Tom is survived by his wife, Tana Ross; his daughter, Brittany Schutte; son-in-law, Derek Schutte and his grandson, Lucas Schutte. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Ross; father, Hugh Ross; his brother, Bob Ross and his sister, Lynn Inglis. Tom was born in Moose, SK on January 17, 1958 to Hugh Ross and Mary Ross. He graduated from SIAST with dual tickets as an electrical instrument technician (EI) and worked at Weyerhaeuser until it shut down in 2006, soon after that he became an instructor at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in the electrical program. On August 14, 1972, he married Tana. On September 26, 1985, they welcomed their daughter, who was the most important part of his life. His grandson Lucas was born on October 11, 2013 and was his pride and joy. Tom was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed collecting rocks and turning his treasures into beautiful pieces of jewelry. He was a passionate man and when he set his mind to something he went all in. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Sherry Ouellette. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Red Cross to support all of the evacuees from the Fort McMurray wildfires. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
