On Monday, May 9th, 2016, Karl George Wagner went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 83. Karl was born February 13, 1933 in Coronach, Saskatchewan. In 1940, the family moved to a farm in the Galilee district. It was there he met the love of his life, Arlene Gallinger. They were married in October of 1956, and soon moved to Calgary where Karl learned his trade in floor covering installation. They returned to Saskatchewan in 1958, settling in Prince Albert 10 years later. Karl took great pride in his work, and was respected for his skill and work ethic. His motto was “quality before quantity,” a trait that he instilled in his children. He continued in his trade for 44 years, retiring in 2001. Karl’s greatest gift was his humor and positive outlook, which endeared him to all. He loved the outdoors, and spent his leisure hours camping, fishing and hunting. Some of his happiest hours were spent out on Anglin Lake, or sitting around a camp fire with his family. Karl was not a person to be idle. He had a natural ability for building and repairing, spending many happy hours in his yard and garage. He loved music, and in his younger years enjoyed playing his accordion at parties and dances. His children were the joy of his life, and he was immensely proud of them and their accomplishments. He is survived by: his best friend and devoted wife of 59 years, Arlene; his children, Debbie (Con) Neudorf, Ralph (Colleen) Wagner, Diane (Reid) Clouthier; his grandchildren Shaun (Melody) Neudorf, Tamara (Brian) Haight, Kyle (Jessica) Wagner, Justin Wagner, Travis Clarkson, Leslie Ambrose, Adam Clouthier, and Maria Clouthier; his 7 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evalyn, Elijah, Joseph, Blake, Aria, and Mason; his sister Alma Wagner Roberts; his brother Ed Wagner; his sisters-in-law Garnet Wagner, Joyous Wagner, Lyla (John) Eisen; his brothers-in-law Clarence Ferguson and George Gallinger; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry and Olga Wagner; his brothers Ernie and Al; his in-laws, George Gallinger, Miriam Gallinger Smail and Bill Smail; his brothers-in-law Doug Roberts, Bill and Don Gallinger, George Bracewell; his sisters-in-law Lois Ferguson, June Bracewell, Mary Gallinger, and Inez Gallinger. In-lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Celebration of Karl’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert. Pastor Dennis Serfas will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Memorial Chapel, 306 764-2727, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
