1946 – 2016
Don Letendre passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, May 30, 2016. He was born in Duck Lake, SK, on March 2, 1946, to Eugene and Noella Letendre, and spent his early years on the family farm. After the death of his father, he moved to Prince Albert, where he eventually met and married the love of his life, Judy. They moved to the Alingly district, where they raised their two children and developed their own farm. They raised Arabian horses and showed them in various competitions, which Don really enjoyed. He was both a hobby farmer and a general contractor for most of his life. He built two different houses for himself and his wife over the years, and his last major project was a house for his son, Clayton. He was always knowledgeable and could be relied on to offer support for any family or friend who needed help. He was a craftsman and inventor who took pride in his projects. He did sandblasted glass projects and made wine, which was enjoyed by many over the years. He could be found each Father’s Day weekend out at the Letendre Batoche farm cutting grass to get it ready for the July long weekend. Many Canada Day’s were spent there with extended family and friends, and Don took great pride in making improvements for everyone’s enjoyment. After the passing of his wife, he moved to Prince Albert, where he lived until his death. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, taking them fishing, listening to them play fiddle or guitar, running them to and from events when needed, or telling them family stories about when their parents were kids or their heritage. Left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Julie (Todd) Wilson, and their children, Alyssa (Chris) Vandevord, Caitlin Cleghorn, Aurora and Cassandra Wilson, his son, Clayton (Angela) Letendre, and their children, Samantha, Emily and Noah, as well as siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, in the Arbor Lounge of River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Memorial Chapel, 306-764-2727, Colette Harnett, Funeral Director.
