ST. GERMAINE – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Robert on June 8, 2016 after 1 ½ years of battling colon cancer, a life taken way to soon. Ray was born in Rosthern on August 9, 1954, the youngest of 12 children born to Michel and Emma St. Germain. He was raised in the St. Laurent area and took his education in Prince Albert, SK and St. Louis, SK. Ray enjoyed the outdoors and music. He wrote some of his own songs. He played in a band in his younger years, and sang at many weddings, Christmas masses, concerts and family functions. He was a carpenter by trade and was employed by Nagy Construction in Prince Albert, SK for many years which took him as far away as the Yukon. He was always up for and enjoyed a good golf game with his son, son-in-law, and friends. Ray married Rosemarie Kostyniuk on July 29, 1989. In 1990, they both were employed at the Wakaw School as custodians. In August of 2014, Ray retired, but just couldn’t part from the students and staff so he stayed until the end of September which gave him almost 25 years of service. The staff and students could always count on him to go that extra mile for them when needed. He was an active member in the community and could be counted on to help at many functions, he was a town councillor, Lions Member, and Legion Member. Ray’s pride and joy were his grandchildren. They all had him wrapped around their little finger. Ray never gave up on life, he fought until he could fight no more. Ray is survived by his best friend and wife Rosemarie, his children: Mason (Olya) St Germaine, Chantelle (Derek) Osolinsky, Rachel (Josh) Glew, Mellisa (Stuart Linden) St Germain, and Raelene St. Germain (Greg Rinholm); his grandchildren: Addison and Jonah Osolinsky, Dominic St. Germaine, Kylie and Dahlia Glew and Mikayla and Chloe Linden; his brothers: Eldric (Cecile), Claude (Winnifred), Wilfred (Brenda) and Leo; his sisters: Annabelle (Lionel) Lepine and Lucille Smith; his mother-in-law Hilda Kostyniuk,., his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael Kostyniuk, William Kostyniuk, Susan (Gerry) Clark, Katherine (Kim) Thorpe, and Robert (Donna) Kostyniuk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ray is predeceased by his parents Michel & Emma (Azur) St. Germaine, his sisters Angeline Arcand and Juliette St. Germain, his brothers: Omer St. Germain, Ovide St. Germain, Emilieux St. Germain, his father-in-law William Sr. Kostyniuk, his brother-in-law Paul Smith, his nephew Lionel St. Germain and his great-great-niece Georgia Curry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw with Rev. Fr. Phong Tran as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ray may be directed to the Wakaw School to assist in the purchase of a new sound system. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK. 306-233-4403.
