February 11, 1941 – June 11, 2016
It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Bernard Phillip Bear of Muskoday, SK on June 11, 2016 at the age of 75 after his battle with Cancer at home with his wife and family. He was born on the John Smith/Muskoday Reserve in 1941. Bernard is survived by his loving wife Gail of 54 years; his three children Duane, Keith, and Terri; son-in-law Lyndon Linklater; as well as his #1 grandson Malik. He is also survived by his brothers John, Austin, and Lyle; also his sisters Elaine and Lois. He was predeceased by his parents Lena and Walter; his brothers Robert Henry, Walter and Hubert; sisters Jesse, Levina, Alice, Ruth, Nellie and Mary plus his beloved daughter Wendy… He was a hard worker his whole life and spent most of that at Camp Dundurn Military camp working for the DND as a cilivian, and started out as a laborer, but because of his dedication, hard work and respect he earned, it resulted in a appointment of Ammunition Warehouse crew chief, with all the responsibilities therein. He spent the better part of his life there for 33 years and retired in 1999. He went back every so often to visit the friends that he made while working there and talk about the old days…. From there he decided to go back to work and took on a part time job at the Northern Lights Casino as a Security Tech for which he spent several years finally retiring for good in 2007. At that time Dad decided to enjoy his golden years, in which he travelled, played golf with his good friend Len Leniuk. Dad was active in his community for which he took several elders trips, attended church, meetings at the Elders committee and late in his life took on some responsibilities at the Chief and Council meetings. Dad was a wonderful and loving father who was very proud of his family especially his grandson Malik with whom he took shooting and showed him the proper techniques. One thing you could say about our father was that he was a social person and loved to enjoy himself at gatherings of family whether it be a birthday celebration or whatever the reason he loved to celebrate! Dad loved being with his family at all the major holidays as he would be glad that the family could be together, as it was one of his favorite things seeing his family, I keep saying family, but that’s just it, he had a strong love of his family, all of his family…. Wake Service will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 with Reverend Chris Dow officiating. Both services will be held at the Muskoday Band Hall. Interment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
