Helen Merasty was born on Monday, January 31, 1927, in Brochet, Manitoba, and passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, at the age of 89 years. Merasty, Gary (Adrienne) Merasty, James (Virginia) Merasty, Gloria (Marc) Merasty, Stacey Merasty, Kirk (Karen) Merasty, Jason Michel and Beverly Thomas, her foster children, Lorna Bear, Leo Bear and Obert Bear, her 43 grandchildren, her 59 great-grandchildren, and her 9 great-great-grandchildren, her godchildren, Trent Dorion, Tanya McCallum, Margie McKay and Rachel Walker, her siblings, Evelyn McCallum, Napoleon Michel, Margaret McKenzie, Virginia Bird, Linklater family, Bella Michel, Anselm Thomas, Napoleon Thomas, Agnus Thomas, Alvina Halkett and Georgina Bird, and her friends, Kathy Dusterbeck, Crystal Michel, Angie Merasty, Carol Merasty, Stella Merasty, Alvina Merasty, Sylvia Clarke, Rosalie Bear, Desiree Ballantyne, Gloria Merasty, Serena and Donald Linklater, Nancy Ballantyne and Vivian Highway. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Merasty, her sons, Horace Merasty and Ricky Merasty, her daughter, Margaret Ballantyne, her grandchildren, Gloria Merasty and Dwayne Highway, her great-granddaughter, Ashla Ballantyne, her sisters, Catherine Bighetty and Rosalie Okemau, her brother, Pierre Thomas, her parents, Pierre and Philomene Thomas, her foster parents, Angus and Annie Merasty and Peter and Catherine Linklater, her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Merasty, her son-in-law, Allan Sewap, her sisters-in-law, Angelique Canada, Eugenie Michel, Veronique McCallum, Josephine Olson, Charlotte Clarke, Flora Jane Linklater, Theresa Merasty, Mary Ann Merasty and Esther Richards, her brothers-in-law, Henry Okemau and Jerome Bighetty, and her father- and mother-in-law, Thomas and Elyse Merasty. A wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at River Park Memorial Chapel in Prince Albert, SK, then continued at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the Senator Allan Bird Memorial Center in Prince Albert, SK. The wake will be continued on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Wapanacak Auditorium in Pelican Narrows, SK. Helen’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Pelican Narrows, SK. Interment will follow at the Moise Bear Memorial Gardens in Pelican Narrows, SK.
