Ellen June Wong (nee Rohachuk) was born June 22, 1959, and left us June 17, 2016 at the age of 56. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 12 years, Brad Stoesz, his children Amanda Hang and Peter and her favorite grandson Aidan, as well as his daughter Kristin Stoesz.
Leaving to remember Ellen is her Mom, Pat Rohachuk, her sister Elaine, and her husband Arne Lindberg, and their sons David Lindberg and David Dion. Ellen’s sister Joan Chad and her children Spencer and Allie, and Ellen’s brother Dwayne Rohachuk and his children Stephanie, her sons Noah and Eli, and Dwayne’s son Nik.
She was predeceased by her father, Stephan Rohachuk, in April of 2012.
Ellen was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. After completing High School, she went to Alberta to attend Lethbridge College where she received her Business Administration Certificate and Human Resources Certificate. Ellen furthered her education at Mount Royal College in Calgary where she was enrolled in the CMA program. After a short stint in the corporate world, she decided to start her own accounting business. Ellen loved being an entrepreneur, and took great pride in her ability to provide exemplary service to her clients until her illness would not allow her to continue.
Ellen was an avid traveller, and she went to places such as China, South Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom, the States, the Caribbean Islands, and Mexico. Ellen was a certified scuba diver, and always loved the water. Ellen enjoyed sharing her love for travel with her Mom and siblings, and later she took each of her nieces and nephews on exotic trips.
Ellen met Brad in 2002, and they were married in March of 2004. Ellen and “Sailor” purchased a condo in San Jose Del Cabo on the golf course shortly after, and they spent many weeks and months every winter golfing, swimming, exploring, relaxing, and making new friends.
Ellen taught us many lessons in the last chapter of her life, lessons about strength, support, love and compassion. We have become more aware of the importance of the little things in life, that being surrounded by material possessions is not what defines us a a person, but that we need to be aware of how much we need family and friends to make our existence complete, that we are here together, to make the journey easier because we are doing the heavy lifting together.
We love you Ellen, and know we will meet again and continue our experiences.
A private family service was held in Olds, Alberta on June 23, 2016.
A Memorial Celebration of Ellen’s life will be held July 16, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 752 – 14th Street West, Prince Albert.
