Norman Revitt

Norman Spencer Revitt was born at Alsask, SK on November 2, 1929 to Priestley and Elsie Revitt. He had two brothers and a sister older than he, and two brothers and a sister younger. He attended his first two years of schooling at the Glenalmond school in the Eyre, SK district, as the move was made to the Clouston district in the time of the Depression. The Revitts were on the farm in the Clouston district for ten years. Norman continued with his education for the next six years until grade eight at the MacIntoch School until WWII broke out, as he was needed at home to help with the farming. The family attended Church Services at St. John’s Royal. The next move for the Revitt’s were into Prince Albert where Norman got a job at the Prince Albert Lumber Company. This is where he met and married Dorothy Couldwell. He became a relief manager for surrounding districts of the West Lumber & Supply Company which Head Office was the Prince Albert Lumber Company. He served at Shellbrook and Kinistino. Due to injuries of his back he had to leave the Company, and got a job at the Hill Grocery delivering groceries, later a job in the meat department. From there Norman was offered a job as a caretaker at P.A.C.I. He also worked at Riverside School and retired in 1994 from Princess Margaret School, when he lastly hung up his mop. Norman enjoyed his work and all his friends he had made. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his quiet, gentle manner. Norman is survived by his wife Dorothy of 65 years, his children: Noreen (John) Hareuther of Prince Albert, Bruce (Sharon) Revitt of Saskatoon, Glen Revitt of Blackie AB, David (Corinne) Revitt of Calgary, AB, Diane (Louie) Bastos of Carstairs, AB; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Hareuther (Dennis Carpenter), Christopher (Tanya) Hareuther, April Revitt, Adam Revitt (Stephanie McKay), Jason Revitt (Megan St. Germaine), Amy Bastos and Wendy Bastos; five great-grandchildren: Holden, Willow and Cole Hareuther, Chloe Revitt, and Olivia Carpenter; one brother Donald (Lou) Revitt of Spruce Grove, AB and sister Mary (Sam) Saputo of California, U.S.A. as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Norman was predeceased by an infant son Dale Revitt; his parents Priestley and Elsie Revitt; his brothers Dyson, George and Lloyd and a sister Ina Allen. Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Alban`s Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK with The Reverend Dr. Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes. memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or to St. David’s Anglican Church, 500 – 24th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 1S2.
