May 4, 1930 – July 24, 2016
Georgette Gignac passed away suddenly at home in Prince Albert, SK on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born on May 4, 1930 in Albertville, SK to Délaré Audit and Napoleon Lavoie. Georgette met Rodolph on a bus trip whereby she and her sister Florence had purchased fur coats from harvest earnings, glamour in the Country! Georgette and Rodolph were married on June 12, 1951. They enjoyed their 3 years on Vancouver Island whereby Rodolph worked as a tree faller. Through the years Georgette enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning. Her many talents were instrumental in assisting Jackie establish her Edmonton clinic in 1994. She selflessly put in countless hours sewing curtains and upholstering beds which continue to receive compliments to this day. Not bad for having attended a one room school in Albertville! She secretly kept a journal since 1974 which poignantly reflected her thoughts and major events of the day. What a treasure! Georgette attended St. James Parish Church and through faith and hard work successfully raised 5 children, two of which succumbed to MS. Georgette had a great sense of humour never losing it through the loss of her 3 children and could create gales of laughter playing cards. Her uncanny intuition regarding people proved a constant source of amazement! Georgette will be lovingly remembered by her husband Rodolph Gignac; her children Jackie McInnis (Earl deceased) and Yolande Fearon (Roy); her 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and her brother Paul Lavoie (Sylvia). She was predeceased by her children Vivian, Darlene and Rock and her siblings Rene, Florence and Muriel. Never are we more aware of how much friends and family mean than at this time of bereavement. Your kindness and sympathy will always be remembered. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Albertville, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Travis Myrheim.
