It is with saddened hearts that the family of Johanna (Anita) Ruth Merian-Nater, announce her peaceful passing on August 5, 2016 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan at the age of 93. Anita was born in the city of Winterthur, Switzerland on September 29, 1922. She studied to be a nurse, but after having four boys she dedicated her life and all of her time to them. She moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada when she was 65 years old to retire. She moved into the house next door to her son, John, and played a huge role in raising her three granddaughters. Anita was predeceased by her loving husband, Curt Ernst Nater (deceased January 9, 1967), and her parents, Josef and Frieda Grison. Anita is survived by her partner, Jean Meier, four sons, Jurg and Iris Nater of Alten ZH, Switzerland, Heinz and Michel Nater of Lenzerheide GB, Switzerland, John Nater of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Thomas and Nora Nater of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. Anita will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Daniel (Zeliha) Nater, Priska Nater, Cedric (Sandra) Nater, Geraldine (Ivo) Parpan, Shana (Andrew) Kolosa, Nicole (Dustin) Cox, Jennifer Nater, Kristen (Andrea) Nater, and Anson Nater, and by her great-grandchildren, Tim, Jannis, Myria, Silvano, Lara, Dominique, Reese, Ty, Dawson, Page, Mason, Kees, and Mathias. Anita will also be fondly remembered by many cousins and friends. The family of Anita would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert who took such great care of Anita over the past four years. Anita spoke very highly of all the staff and considered her room ‘home’. In lieu of other tributes, please consider a donation in Anita’s name to the Prince Albert SPCA. A memorial service will be held for Anita at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Herb Bassett Chapel, Father D.J. Vu officiating. Interment to follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
