Nellie (nee Buchynski) Zalewski

November 6, 1918 – August 14, 2016

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother Nellie Zalewski.  Her precious life began on November 6, 1918 in Rama, SK.  Her youthful years encompassed doing general household chores, gardening and helping with duties on the farm.  She married Adolf Zalewski in 1940 and were blessed with four children.  They farmed in the Cloverdale district until 1969, retired at that time and moved to Prince Albert.  Her interests included knitting, crocheting, gardening and making quilts.  For the past four years, Nellie was compassionately and tenderly cared for by the staff of the Herb Bassett Home.  She is survived by her loving family: two daughters Sophie Olde and Marie (Rob) Temple; two sons Ed (Melanie) Zalewski and Ron (Lynne) Zalewski; six grandsons Ray (Brenda) Olde of Nipawin, Stephen (Wendy) Olde of Prince Albert, Dwayne (Fay) Olde of Calgary, AB, Jason (Michelle) Zalewski of Prince Albert, Brad (Alexis) Zalewski of Edmonton, AB and Cameron (Amanda) Zalewski of Lily Plain; three granddaughters Jill (Garth) Heck of Saskatoon, Brandie (Darryl) Pikaluk of Prince Albert and  Rhonda Zalewski of Saskatoon; eighteen great grandchildren Colleen (Lindsay) Shopp, Shona (Dale) Breckenridge, Michelle Olde, Ryan (Candice) Olde, Brittany (Jon) Olde, Kayla Olde, Chelsea Olde, McKenzie Heck, Ryley Heck, Swae Zalewski, Hunter Zalewski, Ryder Zalewski, Darrien Pikaluk, Aiden Pikaluk, Tyrell Cochrane, Troy Zalewski, Brielle Zalewski and Thane Zalewski; nine great great grandchildren Brandon Shopp, Cameron  Shopp,  Sierre Shopp, Dane Breckenridge, Chantel Breckenridge, Shawn Breckenridge, Nicholas Olde/Young, Carter Olde and Isabella Blackstock.  She is also survived by her two sisters Jean Grela of Prince Albert and Emily Zerebeski of Saskatoon and her four sisters-in-law Jean Buchynski of Prince Albert, Hileria  Buchynski of Buchanan, Ann  Buchynski of Preeceville and Elsie Buchynski of Portage la Prairie, MB.  Nellie was predeceased by her husband Adolf Zalewski; her parents Alexander and Mary Buchynski; her brothers Paul, John, Walter, Steve, Isidore, Anton, Frank and Edward Buchynski; her sisters Helen Hrynkiw and Josephine Korecki; her brothers and sisters-in-law Annie Buchynski, Stella, Buchynski, Margaret Buchynski, John Korecki, Nick Zerebeski and Ed Grela; her son-in-law Wayne Kuhn and a granddaughter-in-law Charlotte Olde.  Private Family Service will be held.  In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Herb Bassett Home, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 4N9.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
