It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Arsene Parenteau, on August 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Arsene was born on September 6, 1930 to William and Marie Parenteau at Batoche, SK, the second youngest of 11 children. He met the love of his life, May Nogier, while attending school and they later married on August 19, 1950 in Batoche. May and Arsene moved to Prince Albert in 1953 where Arsene worked at various jobs in the plumbing field, then at McGavin’s Bread where he worked for 25 years before retiring. Arsene was an avid curler most of his life, but after retiring is when he enjoyed his passion for golfing. He actually liked all kinds of sports, but his greatest loves were the Prince Albert Raiders and his Toronto Blue Jays. Arsene volunteered on many boards, mainly Community Housing, Local 269, NCC, Children’s Haven and The Knights of Columbus. He was always willing to help anyone that needed things done, big or small. He was very well respected in the community and known for his kindness and generosity. Arsene was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, May Parenteau in 2015; his son in infancy: Ronnie; his parents: William and Marie Parenteau; as well as 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Arsene is survived by his beloved children: Walter, Loretta (Carl) Paul, Linda (Leonard) Blocka, Esther (Herb), Debbie (Donny) Balan, Sharon Blais, and Patricia (Tony) LaPointe; his 16 grandchildren; his 28 great-grandchildren; his sister: Margaret Woychyshyn; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; and many other relatives. The family would like to thank Dr. Tau and the nursing staff of Level 6 of the Victoria Hospital for their kindness and compassion during our father’s stay. Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 7:00 pm, St. Mark Roman Catholic Parish, 581 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church with Father Jim Kaptein officiating both services. Interment will take place in the Garden of Christus, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Arsene may be made to St. Mark Roman Catholic Parish, 581 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 0Y4.
