Lloyd Alfred Gardiner Lalonde was born on June 8, 1936, in Spiritwood, SK. At age 7 he moved to a farm near Leask and attended school in Leask. After he finished school he joined the Air Force and spent 6 years in Winnipeg. He married Gwen Duncan and moved to work on a farming operation with Gwen’s father and brother. They had three beautiful daughters. After some time, he sold his shares of the farm and started a hotel business in Melfort. He lived on an acreage near Birch Hills for a number of years, where he found an interest in horses and chuck wagon racing. Lloyd loved country western music and dancing, his daughters, and horses. He eventually moved to an acreage near Holbein, where he lived until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He then lived at the Parkland Integrated Long Term Health Care Facility in Shellbrook until his death on August 20, 2016. Left to mourn Lloyd’s passing are his three daughters, Kara (Peter) Kallenback, and her two children, Hanna and Zachary, Denise Lalonde (Nicoli) and her two children, Luc and Vincent, and Renee Lalonde, and her son, Logan, his sisters, Fern Bartels, Terry Lalonde, Doreen Lalonde, and Sharon Murphy, and his brothers, Conrad Lalonde, and Duane Lalonde, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by his father, Tancrede Lalonde, his mother, Mary Lalonde, his children’s mother, Gwen (nee Duncan) Lalonde, his brothers, Louis Lalonde, Aurele Lalonde, and Laurent Lalonde, his sister, Zella Garyt, his nephews, Glen Bartel, Kevin Bartel, and Warren Zuch, and his brothers-in-law, Henry Bartel and Raey Garyt. A memorial service will be held for Lloyd at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church in Shellbrook, Father Tru Lee officiating.
