Gladys Skomorowski

Gladys Doris Skomorowski was born in Wadena on June 14, 1925. Following complications from a severe stroke she passed away peacefully at the Royal University Hospital late Sunday October 2, 2016. Gladys is survived by her loving husband Bill; her son Grant (Bonnie); grandchildren Brock (Kayleigh), Derek, and Lisa; step-grandchildren David Laturnus, Lynden Laturnus and Steffani (Joshua) McLeod; great-grandsons Jude and Linus; sister-in-law Ruth Swanson; and nephew Barry (Rosemary) Lyons. She was predeceased by her parents Carl and Amanda Swanson; brothers Hilding, Algot, and George; and by sisters Betty (Roy) Lyons, Karen (Frank) Mahoney and Ellen (Reginald) Treleaven. Gladys grew up on the family farm near Wadena. She met her husband, Bill, at a barn dance. They were married on June 6, 1951 and spent several years residing in Wynyard and Prince Albert, finally moving to Saskatoon in 2010. Gladys worked at the Prince Albert Credit Union until she retired in December 1985. Together with Bill they then travelled extensively. Gladys appreciated the great Saskatchewan summers and enjoyed being outdoors. Gladys was an avid reader and accomplished bridge player. She loved meeting people and making conversation. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating, complimented by a service for Saskatoon residents to be held at Luther Heights at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10th. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Luther Care Foundation, 1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9.
