It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Gisèle Fortier (nee Belair) (86) who passed away suddenly on Saturday October 8th 2016 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She is survived by her 10 children; Pierrette (Jean-Paul), Gaëtan (Dianne), Michel (Coleen), Monique (Chris), Gerard (Lorrie), Dolorès (Doug), Andre (Nathalie), Paulin (Nancy), Marie (Jocelyn), Alain (Michelle). She was predeceased by her husband Roger, her son Aimé, her parents Ovila and Alma Belair and her brother Ivan Belair.
Gisèle was a hard working woman who labored long hours on the farm. Milking cows, tending to her large garden, canning and sewing for her family were just a few of her activities. Amongst all those activities, she still found time to bake several loaves of bread twice a week. Her love for crafts, knitting, and quilting were just a few of her passions. The many quilts that she made for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be cherished forever. Mom was the happiest when the house was full of her children and grandchildren. She also loved to play cards with her family and friends.
Mom was devoted to her faith and would pray the rosary daily and attended church regularly. When things would go wrong or break down, she would put it in the hands of God and things would work themselves out. Mom was the heart of the family, what a great example she was to her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of the church and was involved in countless activities in the community.
After taking care of our father for several years, she moved to Saskatoon to be nearer to her children. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
