Nora Cantin

Nora Cantin passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016 at the Kopera Care Home. Nora was born in Blaine Lake on September 20, 1920 to Leonard and Sadie Cournoyer. She grew up with eleven siblings and attended school in rural Blaine Lake, then went to work housekeeping in the neighboring area. Nora married Albert Cantin in 1940; they farmed in the D’amour district until Dad’s farming accident which caused them to move to Prince Albert with their four children. Nora went to work as a short order cook at the Empress Hotel in P.A.; she later worked in the Laundry at the Holy Family Hospital; then in the Laboratory; then she took an ECG Course and worked there for twenty-five years. After retiring she and Albert operated the Good Times Roller Rink to their enjoyment. Mom loved gardening, knitting, card games and also Bingo games. Her grandchildren were the delight of her life. Nora was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert; by her infant son Edward; her parents Leonard and Sadie Cournoyer; her daughter-in-law Carmen Cantin; her son-in-law Harvey Spence; five brothers and three sisters. Nora leaves to mourn her passing; her daughter Leona (Clem) Dansereau; her daughter Eva Spence; her son Leonard (Glenna) Cantin; her daughter Shirley (Larry) Danylyshen; 16 grandchildren and their spouses; 37 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; one brother and one sister-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Sacred Heart Cathedral (Renovation Fund).
