Steve Raymond

We regret to announce the sudden passing of Steve Raymond, 61, of Big River, SK on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Saskatoon. Steve was born to Joe and Audrey Raymond on Feb. 14, 1955 in Vanguard, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near Aneroid, SK. He attended public school in Aneroid, then high school in Kincaid and Swift Current. He worked in auto body, sold cars and insurance, managed Aneroid and Hodgeville Co-op’s. In early 1998, he and his family moved to Big River. In 2003 he started up his own business, Cowan Lake Contracting. He loved being his own boss.
In 1976, Steve met the love of his life, Linda Robinson, and they were married on Nov. 13 of the same year. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children: Amber, Nickolas and Jessica. He loved his grandkids dearly and treasured time spent with them. He was a key volunteer in all the communities in which he lived.
Steve was a Scout Leader and involved in the Kinsmen and Elks. He spent numerous hours at Ski Timber Ridge in Big River ensuring that all kids got a chance to learn to ski. Steve was a great man with a huge heart and a contagious laugh. His storytelling and outgoing personality made him friends everywhere he went. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by family and friends near and far.
Steve is survived by his wife Linda (Robinson) Raymond and their three children, Amber (Lee) Weisgerber, Nickolas (Kendra) Raymond and Jessica (Mitch Wright) Raymond. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren Skye, Oliver, Roman, Everett, Lily, Rhett and Hannah. He will be deeply missed by his mother Audrey Raymond and siblings Robert (Signe) Raymond, Sue (Harv) Boland and Brett Raymond. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Helen Robinson and siblings-in-law Ellen (Leo) Mareschal, Ken (Janice) Robinson and Brian (Brenda) Robinson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his father, Joseph Raymond, and father-in-law, Donald Robinson in 2010.
Steve’s celebration of life was held at the Community Centre in Big River, SK on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. with Dave Whalley officiating. Donations in his name can be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle.
