With sadness filling their hearts the family of Bruce Donovan Atkinson sadly announce his passing on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. He was 48 years old. Donovan was born on the 8th of August, 1968 in Brandon, MB to Ieleen (nee Horan) and Robert Atkinson. Donovan is survived by his significant other Anita Martin, her children Charlene and Trevor, her grandchildren Auburn and Rylan and her great-granddaughter Serena; his parents Ieleen and Robert Atkinson, his brother William Atkinson (Tracy) and a niece Kayla Atkinson of Nepean, ON; his uncle Ken Atkinson (Maggie) of Chilliwack, BC; his aunts Jaqueline Gordon of Kenora, ON, Colleen Cox of Red Deer, AB, Bettie Horan of Prince Albert, SK, Marlene Horan of Prince Albert, SK, Vi of Langley, BC, Eileen of Surrey, BC and many cousins. Donovan’s education began in Brandon, MB, continued in CFB LAHR in Germany; Debert, NS; and Nepean, ON. Donovan was employed as a class C call out at CFB Uplands as a driver. In 1995 Donovan went west seeking employment, ending up in Prince Albert, SK, where he met Anita Martin. Truck driving was for sure the work he loved most of all. This would lead him into becoming a familiar face for many years as an NRT truck driver. Fittingly, his last employment was with NRT. (Trevor still believes that he is driving the big NRT rigs.) He was an avid modeller of airplanes, etc. He was a loving son, an avid hockey player until injuries sidelined him. During his years with Anita he showed a real love for cooking. He loved Anita and her family and they will truly miss him. He was at all times a very quiet and loveable soul. He was predeceased by his grandparents Mervin and Alice Horan of Shellbrook, SK; his paternal grandparents Ruth and Bill Gordon of Plumas, MB.
Too young to go and taken too soon. You are in a better place.
