Mary Smytaniuk

Mary Smytaniuk (nee Holodniuk), age 83 passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, after a courageous battle with cancer, with family at her side. Mary was born February 13, 1933 and lived in Meath Park, SK and district for most of her life. In 1949, she married William Smytaniuk and they operated a mixed farm, where they raised their family of four children. In the fall of 2015, she moved to Saskatoon and lived with her daughter Darlene. Mary is survived by her loving family: her children Darlene, Judy (Adam) and Irene; her two grandchildren James (Michelle) and Amanda; her one great grandchild Daniel; her two sisters Eileen (Gilbert) Desjarlais and Alice (John) Kosik; her sisters-in-law Ruth Holodniuk, Jenny Kostiniuk, Victoria Korolischuk and Olga Smytaniuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend Molly. She was predeceased by her husband William; son Niles and son-in-law Gord Kilborn; her parents Mary and Bill Holodniuk; her brothers Michael, David, Frank and James; her sisters Ann Schultz and Rose Brassard. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
