Bill Halliday

Bill passed peacefully with family by his side on February 4, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 61, after his 2 year battle with cancer.
He was born in Prince Albert on February 26, 1955. He was raised in Prince Albert and resided in the city his entire life. On July 9, 1977 he married the love of his life, Gail Lucas, after a 3 year courtship. Together they raised a daughter and son. Bill enjoyed many jobs in the heavy equipment operating and truck driving business. He loved operating equipment and Sunday drives often consisted of Bill taking the family around showing progress on the houses he had dug basements for and trenched in the infrastructure. In the winter he often left the house before 4:00 a.m. to do snow removal and enjoyed the quiet morning snowfalls. His favorite job was always truck driving…that was where his heart was at. It started at a young age with his father’s logging company and continued to short and long haul truck driving with different companies. In his final days of work he was hauling chips for Westar and then J & L.
Bill also liked to keep himself busy. Bill and Gail were season ticket holders to the Raiders for years. When James was playing hockey, Bill was always at the rink. He was the trainer for the PA Box Lacrosse Predators when James played for them. Over the years he also attended Crystal’s concerts, musicals, and plays. He also enjoyed family rounds of golf, and packing up the family and taking them fishing. When he really wanted to fish without distraction he had numerous friends and family that were always willing to get up early in the morning and head out with him. Later in life he discovered a love of hot holidays, and more specifically, Mexico. Gail was always more than happy to oblige to his new love. He always came home with new Spanish words in his vocabulary, new drinks to mix, and many, many stories about the locals he would meet.
Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gail (nee Lucas); his daughter, Crystal Halliday; his son, James (Taylor Short) Halliday, his Mother, Madge Halliday; Parents- in-law, Albert and Dorothy Lucas; his brothers, Larry (Pauline) Halliday, Kenny (Brenda Pamburn) Halliday, Benny (Bella Sanderson) Halliday, Teddy Halliday; his sisters, April (Hans) Skjonsberg, Jenny (Bryan MacDonald) Halliday, Pam (Dario Antic) Halliday; his brother-in-law, Randy (Cheryl) Lucas; his sisters-in-law, Donna (Denis) Jeanneau, Kim (Don) Lucas-Wells; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his Father, Lawrence Halliday in 2003; his brother, Harry at birth, his maternal grandparents, Napoleon and Emma Sauve; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Marie Halliday.
The family would like to thank the nurses on level 6 at the Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
