Sr. Teresa Sanche

Sister Teresa Sanche was born in Marcelin, SK. where her family had settled on a farm. When Teresa was about four years old, her father bought land in Batoche. She attended school there. She completed high school at the convent in Duck Lake after which she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. Being the oldest of thirteen children, Sister Teresa began her career as an educator much before attending Teacher’s College in 1949. Her assignments brought her to schools in Saskatchewan: Duck Lake, St. Joseph and St. Paul in Prince Albert, Debden, Marcelin, Green Lake and Spiritwood, as well as in St. Lazare, Manitoba. Sister Teresa loved teaching and her students enjoyed being in her class. However, by 1982, she was happy to superannuate and looked forward to homemaking duties where needs arose in convents. Parishioners in Bellevue, Vawn, Debden and Melfort will recall the joy she brought as she visited them during her spare time.
As her health was failing, she came to the Infirmary of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
Sister Teresa will be remembered for her prayerfulness, sincerity, kindness and loving, gentle smile. We rejoice that she now rests in the Lord she believed in and so happily shared with all.
