VIOLA GRUNERUD

1928 – 2017

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Viola (nee Sproull) Grunerud on Friday, September 15, 2017 with her family by her side. She was 2 weeks shy of her 89^th birthday. Viola lived in Prince Albert almost all of her life. She met her husband who was building a house a few doors down from her family’s home. Shortly after that they got married on June 29, 1946. She lived in that house the rest of her life. She was very proud of the fact that she had lived on her own for as long as she did. They were blessed with 6 children, one son died in infancy. She loved spending time at the lake, going on road trips, and spending her Saturday afternoons doing her shopping trips. Earlier on, she and her husband travelled throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC and the United States camping and going to family reunions. She had 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. There is nothing she liked more than getting together with family for special occasions. She always looked forward to family coming into town for a visit. Her smile was contagious; you couldn’t help but smile back when she was around as she always had a smile on her face. We will love and miss you till the end of our days. We will cherish our memories that we had with you forever. You are always in our hearts. Viola is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Don the pest) Lafrentz, Barb Baschuk, Sharon Dallman, Corrine (Roy) Tkachuk; her son, Gary Grunerud; her grandchildren, Ken, Kevin, Heather, Bonnie, Connie, Nick, Greg, Jason, Carla, and Tracy; and her brothers, Gordon and Verle. She is predeceased by her husband, Victor; her son, Terry; one son-in-law, David; a daughter-in-law, Christine; two grandchildren, Kimmy and Fred; her parents, Albert and Josephine Sproull; a sister, Evelyn; and her brothers, Tom and Vic. Viola’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at River Park Memorial Chapel, Reverend Rick Martin officiating. Interment to follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, 306-764-2727, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director.
