It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lawrence Jacob Willick at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with loving wife Vivian and family by his side. Lawrence was born and grew up on the family farm just north of Crown Hill, west of Marcelin, Saskatchewan. He and Vivian established their own farm a few miles away, where the two of them raised eight children together. He farmed with his son, Robert (Bob) and retired on the beautiful homestead he and Vivian built together. In September 2016, the two of them moved to Preston Park I in Saskatoon. Father of eight, grandfather of 18, great-grandfather of 13, great-great grandfather of one and uncle to many, Lawrence inspired us all with a legacy of love, faith, kindness, integrity and the gentlest spirit imaginable. He gave 100 per cent of his care and energy to the things important to him –marriage, fatherhood, grandfathering, farming, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Marcelin Senior’s Centre, community volunteering, renovating his children’s houses, playing billiards and bocce ball at Preston Park – the list goes on. Lawrence is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Vivian (nee King); his children and their families: Robert (Barbara) Willick, Loraine (Dwayne) Northey, Marlene (Larry) Dierkens, Patricia (Mervyn) Arcand, Janet Willick, Jackie (Michael) Robin, Darryl (Wely Floriano) Willick, and Myrna Willick (LeRoss Calnek). Lawrence was predeceased by his birth family, several extended family, his son-in-law Doug Northey and his grandson, Jacob Leigh Calnek. Prayer Service will be held on Friday November 17 at 7:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marcelin. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s on Saturday November 18 at 1 pm, followed by lunch at the Marcelin Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium, North Battleford.
