What is Prince Albert’s favourite costume?

The race to fill treat bags will begin this Thursday, but what if you or your little one is still without a costume?

If you were following the trend, you could go with a classic costume.

“Superheroes are always top of the charts; Batman, Superman, Spiderman, the Avengers are hugely popular,” Halloween Alley Prince Albert’s, Dawn Mills said. “Disney princesses are always top of the charts with girls and women. Superheroes and Disney princesses, those are always going to be in your top five.”

Mills explained pop culture and what’s big at the box office has a big influence on top costumes of the year.

Another big influencer is the weather. With the recent drop in temperature, a few extra layers may be needed.

Parkland Ambulance’s Director of Public Affairs Lyle Karasiuk is hoping the ghouls and goblins collecting candy will stay warm.

“Certainly the weather will now play a factor in your costume decision. Meaning, you’re likely going to be wearing a snowsuit and some heavy winter boots underneath that wonderful costume as you head out this Thursday,” Karasiuk said.

He added it’s important for costumes to be visible by motorists, recommending the costume be bright and light coloured or even include reflective stickers.

It’s also up to drivers to be on the lookout.

“With the winter snow and ice in residential neighborhoods, we want people just to slow down,” Karasiuk said. “Heaven forbid if you ever bumped into a ghost or goblin [with your car].”

With the ice and snow on the ground it’s important that proper footwear is also worn. He encouraged people also handing out candy to help by cleaning and salting sidewalks to keep people from slipping and falling.
