Accused in $100,000 meth bust make first court appearance

One of two men charged following a massive methamphetamine bust in Prince Albert has been released from custody with conditions including abiding by a curfew and not possessing any firearms.

Norman Wenzel, 36, faces a number of drugs and weapons related charges in connection to the incident last Thursday.

The Integrated Street Enforcement Team conducted a search warrant of a vehicle at the 500 Block of 15^th St. E.. The police seized 2.7 pounds of meth, a cell phone, a small amount of cash, and score sheets which are used to track drug transactions. Later, the police visited a residence in the 500 Block of 26^th St. E to conduct another search warrant where they discovered other drug paraphernalia, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and a digital scale.

Police said the total value of the methamphetamine seized was $100,000.

Wenzel who appeared Monday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court via video link from the Provincial Correctional Centre, has been scheduled to make his next court appearance Nov. 6.
