SGI shines spotlight on school zone speeders
Some drivers in Saskatchewan learned their lesson the hard way when it came to school zone speed limits.
According to SGI, police officers around the province handed out 1,424 tickets for speeding in school zones in September.
In Regina, the speed limit in school zones dropped from 40 kilometres per hour to 30 km/h to start the 2019-20 school year.
School zones were the focus of SGI’s traffic safety spotlight for September. There also were 13 tickets issued for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a school zone and four tickets for passing a school bus or failing to stop five metres from a school bus when its safety lights were on.
