The Victoria Hospital Foundation is getting support from a big corporation.

Canada Life has committed to donating $20,000 to the foundation. This year, the organization is looking to raise over $300,000 to buy diagnostic and rehab equipment.

CEO Sherry Buckler said getting a contribution like the one from Canada Life is truly appreciated, especially with Give a Little Life campaign not too far away.

“We’re absolutely thrilled and extremely grateful to Canada Life for seeing the value in this campaign and health care in the north,” she said.

This year’s Give a Little Life Day is set for Dec. 6 and is specifically looking to raise money to buy a portable digital radiography x-ray machine, telemetry units and two echo ultra sound beds.

Buckler explained the donation came about through her organization reaching out to Canada Life and asked them if they would be interested in making a contribution.

“We were happy to learn that they were willing to support,” she said.

The hospital foundation CEO said getting a gift like the one from Canada Life is something they also appreciate because it can help to build some momentum leading up to the official campaign kickoff.

“It’s always nice to have a major donor or a philanthropist step forward,” she said.
