Raiders make a pair of trades

The home opener may be eight days away, but Prince Albert Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt is keeping himself busy.

After making three roster moves on Wednesday, Hunt made another two on Thursday.

At first, he struck a trade with the Prince George Cougars. The Cougars received Raider unsigned prospect Davin Griffin, who was selected by the Raiders 100th overall in the fifth round in 2017. In return, the Raiders received a conditional draft pick.

Griffin was not on the Raiders’ preseason roster. He played the last two years with the Saskatoon Contacts in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, scoring 26 goals and 46 points in 43 games last year.

Then later on in the afternoon, Hunt dealt the rights of 2001-born forward Bryce Bader to the Regina Pats for an eighth round conditional pick.

Bader was acquired at the deadline but did not play in any games with the Raiders.

On Wednesday, the Raiders acquired defenceman Remy Aquilon from the Victoria Royals and released defenders Konrad Belcourt and Loeden Schaufler.
