Free concert gets feet stomping at Memorial Square

The second annual Rock My Gypsy Soul Music Festival filled the Prince Albert downtown with vibes Saturday.

The event, at Memorial Square from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., featured a variety of music.

One of four committee members that organize the event, Shannon Kelly, said it was important the show was free to the public.

“Last year it was just an idea we had, and we wanted to put something together to enjoy the music in our community and we wanted It to be a free event for people to come in and enjoy,” Kelly said.

The idea for the event came about when she and another member of the committee sat down and discussed the possibility.

“We decided we were going to have a music festival and so we did,” she said.

The event also included a number of food and product vendors.

“We just put it on our social media and the vendors that were here last year, some of them came back and we got a few new ones this year,” she said.

The show featured special guest Eekwol and other bands such as Kill Joy, Method to Madness, The Upside, Joelle Fuller, and Trina Boran.

She said the last two years have seen some good turnouts.

“Already it’s a success and the day is not already half over,” Kelly told paNOW Saturday. “Last year we had such good feed back that’s why we decided to do it again.”
