Kosior, McNutt, Linklater sign with Raiders

The Prince Albert Raiders have announced the signing of a trio of players a day after the team wrapped up their 2019 training camp.

Among those who impressed Raider staff over the weekend were defencemen Landon Kosior and Adam McNutt, as well as forward Logan Linklater.

“It’s an honour,” Kosior said in a statement issued by the team. “It’s been a dream of mine ever since I was little going to WHL games. It’s been a dream since day one.”

Unlike McNutt and Linklater, Kosior was never selected in the WHL Bantam Draft, but has attended camp in Prince Albert the last two years. The Regina native has competed the last two seasons with the Tisdale Trojans of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League [SMHL], producing an impressive 52 points in 44 games this past year.

In addition to being named the Trojans’ MVP, Kosior was named as the first ever recipient of the Adam Herold Memorial Award, presented in honour of the former Raider prospect.

McNutt was selected in the fourth round, 68th overall by the Raiders in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. The bruising defenceman spent last season with his hometown Saskatoon Contacts where he registered 15 points along with 58 penalty minutes in 41 games.

“I would say I’m definitely more of a physical guy,” McNutt said in a statement. “I like to play hard in the corners and on the wall. Definitely more of a grinder.”

From Kindersley, Sask., Linklater was drafted in the sixth round, 115th overall by Prince Albert, also in the 2018 bantam draft. He spent his first season of midget hockey with the Swift Current Legionnaires [SMHL] where he scored 14 goals along with 18 assists in 39 games as a rookie.

“I think I play fast and skilled. I’m kind of a skill-finesse guy. That’s what the coaches like to say,” Linklater said in a release. “I just like to play with speed and have fun with the game and be creative.”

Fans will have an opportunity to get their first look at the Raiders against WHL competition on Wednesday night when the Moose Jaw Warriors come to the Art Hauser Centre in pre-season action. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
