Federal election candidates to speak on seniors’ issues
Residents living in the Prince Albert riding will get their first opportunity this week to see all their federal candidates in the same room.
An all candidates meeting has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Prince Albert at Solutions Point 777, located on 10th St. E. across from City Hall. The Prince Albert Seniors’ Advocacy Centre has hosted similar events in the past. Director John Fryters said the focus of this meeting will be on seniors’ issues, adding he personally has concerns about pension reform.
“There are still seniors that have to scrape by at the end of each month and there are still seniors, believe it or not, who have to make choices between paying for their groceries and paying for their medication,” he said.
Thursday’s meeting, which is open to the public, has been scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Fryters said he will start the meeting with opening remarks about seniors’ issues, which will be followed by a statement from each of the candidates. The floor will be opened to questions from the audience.
