After picking up a solid win Wednesday night at home over Red Deer, the Prince Albert Raiders hit the road for the first of four road games starting with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Raiders played well enough to win, but the Hurricanes managed to pull out the win 3-1 over the Raiders.

The Raiders got the first penalty of the game but managed to kill it off quickly, and that was the only mark on the scoresheet during the first period. Defenceman Jordan Murray fired a shot through a mess of bodies in front, but the puck hit the post and the game stayed scoreless.

After 1: Raiders 0 – 0 Hurricanes, shots 8-3 Raiders

In the second the Hurricaes managed the game’s first goal on the powerplay at 13:04. It started on a faceoff in the Hurricanes zone where they won the puck and quickly moved it up ice. Before the Raiders penalty kill could get back and take away the passing lanes, Easton Daneault drove the puck below the goal line and sent a pass to the slot for a Logan Stuart onetimer and the game’s first goal.

The two teams exchanged powerplays throughout the period, and Jordan Murray hit a second post during the period, but the Raiders still couldn’t buy a goal.

After 2: Raiders 0 – 1 Hurricanes, shots 9-5 Raiders, 17-8 Raiders overall

The Hurricanes extended the lead at the 8:35 mark when Logan Stuart tired a wraparound, but that was stopped. The rebound came out to Oliver Sichtar, and he managed to bury the rebound.

At the 12:04 mark, the Raiders managed to get on the board during some 4-on-4. Darius Hordal snuck down from the point to the left side of the goal and was set up for a shot, but he was stopped. He managed to poke the puck loose though, and Jonah Sivertson wrapped it around for his first of the season.

Later in the period on the powerplay, Evan Smith was set up for a onetimer in the slot that rang iron a third time. The Raiders would pull their goaltender, Maddix McCagherty would hit the post a fourth time, but eventually the Hurricanes managed to get the puck out to the blueline and Dayne Beuker sent the puck into the empty net.

FINAL: Raiders 1 – 3 Hurricanes, shots 10-9 Raiders, 27-17 Raiders overall

Steele Bass was solid in between the pipes for the Raiders with an 0.875 save percentage on the night, stopping 14 of 16 shots faced.

The Raiders are off to Medicine Hat where they will take on the Tigers Saturday night.
