Canadian fighter defeated by U.S. at Trump’s UFC birthday
WASHINGTON — Canadian fighter Aiemann Zahabi was defeated Sunday by former bantamweight champion Sean (Suga) O’Malley of the U.S. on the grounds of the White House.
The 38-year-old from Laval, Que., also heard the most boos from the pro-American crowd as he entered the event, with chants of “USA” erupting during the fight.
The fight night was part of UFC Freedom 250, held at a park just south of the White House to mark 250 years since the U.S. became a country and recognize President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
Excited fans awaiting the event wore UFC-themed and America-themed shirts as sweltering heat saw many seek shade and join long lines for water.
